I really should've done this sooner. Date stamping this way the fuck up there so I can keep track of it.

They had a sale at Brookshire Brothers on Dr Pepper. Buy four 12-packs for eleven bucks and get one free. At first I was all "damn." Then I realized that it was $2.50ish (actually $2.75) per case and one free.

I now have what should be a month's supply of DP. Here's hoping my brother doesn't discover it. Seeing as he didn't put that case he bought in the fridge to be communal, I don't feel the need to make any of my cases communal. So there.

I really do miss living on my own.

In other news, "Letter to a Child Never Born" is a great book. Short, sad, but exactly the type of dialogue that needs to be occurring in the pro-life/pro-choice debate. Anyone who feels any passion at all on the subject of abortion, either side, should really pick it up.

So I went to bed last night at nine or ten. Nine-thirty. Something like that.
Woke up at five, let Rudy out the door and Neko out the window. Went back to bed.
Woke up at eight-thirty, only because I had to go to work. Sleeping ten or eleven hours felt nice.

Other than more crap from A., it was one of those days where you go, Hey, I like working here. It was busy. Couple of dumb customers, but nothing extravagant. Just a busy, fast day.

Bought a container of catnip with little cat ball toys in it. I have discovered that immersing toys in catnip causes the Neko no Niku to go out of his mind. He only quit batting the toy when he lost it. Rudy didn't care for the toy...he wanted his catnip straight. No fucking clue where the toy went.

Mom sent me back "Underground," which will continue on to [info]stainedfeathers. She also sent me some other books that sound really interesting. "Ecology of a Cracker Childhood," "Letters to a Child Never Born," and "America." The last one was described as "Kafka's happiest book." That frightens me.

"Wagner the Werewolf" has actually been very well edited, and reads nicely. I'm not far enough into it to say if I'm really enjoying it, but it's not bad at all.

Of all the fucked up...

Jesus H. Christ on a mother fucking, god damned, pogo stick of Satanic Doom.

Why in all HELL do people like this series? Seriously...mother of unholy fuck. Almost literally. Jesus.

I've read fanfiction that was less cracky than this fucking series. Fuck. Nandy's VoldemortxPikachu shit makes more sense.

I *knew* there was something wrong with it when I started Twilight. It just gets progressively worse.

This book series is sick. And that's coming from someone who picks up roadkill as a hobby and thinks a zombie dog would make the perfect pet.

God damn. I have a new LT tag..."sick as fuck."

I am so fucking tired of young adult books and memoirs of Alaska. The 'dillo book is too short, and I don't think I'll ever be able to dig my natural history out soon enough to revive the brain cells that are struggling along on their last legs.

Seriously. The book about the old days on the Yukon sounds genuinely interesting, but not immediately following two other books on life in Alaska.

I'm just burned out on YA, period. I need something more mature.

I need Jacqueline Carey. I should hit the library. It'll be amazing if the Podunk City Library has even heard of epic fantasy, and even more so if they actually have any of her stuff. Fuck, they've got to have Dune, at least. That'll work just as well.

Apparently Rudy decided what I really needed was a BIG DEAD MOLE. I hear him behind me making muffled barking noises and turn around to see him with this giant fucking mole in his mouth. I've had cats leave them places before, but I've never had a cat bring one to me and announce it. Thanks, Rudloff. Just what I always wanted.

Not-So-Short update.

***

Turns out all I had to do was ask. We'll see how far all this goes. It seems once I called attention to it, Cujo was quite upset at the pond being so dry.

***

CJ found a home. The woman lives near Lake Somerville, and visits the lake proper several times a week. She owns a cane corso, has a partitioned yard, a dog door, and two kids. She doesn't work right now. Almost as perfect as we could wish, even more considering my parents' breathing down my neck to find him a home.

***

The part-time job didn't pan out. I'm working full-time at TPS. Fewer hours, a longer commute, but I stay sane at work, even enjoy it sometimes. At it's worst it resembles the best days I had at the meat market. The only shitty thing is that I now have barely enough money to pay my bills and put gas in the car.

***

Rudy is back after being gone for a while. Mom and I both had written him off as a loss due to the Shit Eaters' constant harassment. He showed up this morning...not hungry, just lonely. He's been in my room ever since. He's learning how to deal with Catmeat...Kitty will take a while. I'm even having a time adjusting to her, she's young and energetic. Rudy and Catmeat just sleep all day...the former on the bed, the latter on the vari-kennel he so despises.

***

I took over the TV yesterday. Five hours of Devil May Cry later, I finally surrendered it. Three missions left. It's an enjoyable game, even if I did forget the plot there for a while. Still don't know why I'm doing all the shit I'm doing, but oh well.

***

Timmy is trying to drive off the Shit Eaters the only way he knows how...holding his ground and fighting back. Not a good strategy against Jack Russell terriers. The Random Folk just watch and do nothing. Next time the dog goes after a cat, I'm throwing rocks.

They have, however, disappointed my mother for the last time. CJ is gone, Cujo's old kennel stands open. Their labrador was supposed to stay in it and not in the house. The thing has spent a whole two hours in there. Add that to my constant concern for the well-being of the cats and they're finally going to be evicted...if my father can steel his nerve enough to tell them. I don't have enough authority to do so...they all go over my head, Random Folk and realtors alike. I'm just the crazy ailurophilic hermit in the bedroom.

***

I have three books left, excluding "The Golden Bough." Only one left of what [info]angeljapan sent me. I need to go to the storage shed with my brother so he can clear his shit out of the way enough for me to attempt to find my unread natural history books. Not having a standing to-read list of at least ten books is disturbing.

***

Kitty is eating me out of house and home. Rudy and Catmeat eat almost nothing. However, she makes up for her piggish habits by being a one-feline insect exterminator. June bugs don't stand a chance anymore.

I now have a "Fox is currently reading..." widget on the sidebar of my journal. I'm pretty good about updating my LibraryThing, so if you're curious as to whatever psychotic bit of tripe I'm reading at any given moment, there you go.

I slaved over that widget. You'd better enjoy it.

I'm so low on energy I'm bored. Thus, my only day off for the week has been pretty boring, although being bored at home is much preferable to being bored at work. I don't have the will to hook up the other computer, and if I did, I wouldn't really have the right concentration it takes to play OB. I love that game, but it takes a minimum energy level that I don't have today.

I'm regaining my sense of smell. Good, maybe it means my nose will clear back up soon.

Reading Haruki Murakami's (or Murakami Haruki's, depending on your preference) "Underground: The Tokyo Gas Attack and the Japanese Psyche." Highly interesting book. One that will likely get passed around like some beneficial, literary STD. [info]stainedfeathers will get it first, but only if she promises to read it fast and get it back to me ASAP. Where it goes next depends. I want to send it to my mother, but I may wait on that until I see if [info]brandyeileen wants it first. Eventually, [info]gloomychap...will you want to borrow it too? I'll mail it to you.

Got my most pressing bone cleaning done. The next-most pressing is at the most annoying part of the cleaning. Maceration would be nice, but I'd rather not. We'll see.

That's been my day today. Reading and dead shit. Even with a shitty energy level, there are worse ways to waste one's time.

I didn't bother cleaning the house, though. If no one else bothers, and I have the most to lose, why waste my only day off?

So we're showing the house tomorrow at ten.

Surprisingly, the Random Folk have more or less straightened up the main house areas. Still knick-knacks everywhere and the pantry/laundry/utility room is a mess, but definitely a big improvement.

However...the back porch? Still looks like it was done in White Trash chique. I had to pick dog toy stuffing up out of the yard. There are horse buckets all over, and the inflatable pool is still up. I don't know what the hell is going to happen with the bedrooms, other than mine.

But speaking of my room...all I have left to do is water exchange on the aquarium, put the computers away, prep the big crate for Neko, and fix my bed. Only the aquarium can be done right this minute. The computers will go in the closet tonight, and the bed and Catmeat will have to wait until tomorrow morning. He will be unhappehkitteh.

But my room? Spotless, and exactly the way my mother intended it to look. So even if the rest of the house looks like shit, my room at least looks nice. I'm really glad I cleaned it so well this weekend. It serves a dual purpose...it's clean for when R. comes over, and now it will be clean for the showing.

This is likely the last you'll hear from me until after A-kon. Tomorrow I pick up R. and will likely crash at nine or ten (ie, right after returning) as is my wont when working early shifts. Friday we head off into the sunset, first in the Roach, then in [info]stainedfeathers' Tori.

***

In bookish news...throughly enjoying "Kwaidan." Will likely finish it tonight, and move on to "Hogfather."

Which reminds me, I have books to give back/loan to the aforementioned birdbrain. This is a thing to remember.
